This finalizes a long ongoing work, moving ELMCIP to a new infrastructure. ELMCIP have previously been hosted on Norstore, a more "old school" virtual machine system, but is now running in Docker containers and Kubernetes fancy swarm. This changes nothing for our end users but everything for system administrators and developers. Meaning, how the system is maintained and how we stages tests instances and do local development.

The ELMCIP Electronic Literature Knowledge Base (​https://elmcip.net/knowledgebase​), an open-access, contributory research database, was launched in 2010 as part of the HERA-funded ELMCIP (Electronic Literature as a Model of Creativity and Innovation in Practice: Developing a Network-Based Creative Community). During and after the ELMCIP grant period (2010-2013), the Knowledge Base grew to become the most substantial research database in the field. The database now includes more than 12,000 records documenting creative works, critical writing, authors, publishers, organizations, events, teaching resources, databases and archives in the field of electronic literature, and is used on a daily basis by researchers around the world.

If you’re new to electronic literature and curious to learn more, you’ve come to the right place!

This website contains over 700 entries on a variety of works of e-literature. The Resources menu has a a few organized collections and the Categories pull down menu on the sidebar will lead to discovering works created with different technologies and in many different genres. There’s even a page dedicated to defining electronic poetry.

If you have 14 minutes, you might want to watch my TEDx talk and get a quick and friendly overview of the concept. For a longer and more in-depth history of the field that shows ways in which you are already reading and creating e-literature, check out my lecture “Third Generation Electronic Literature.”

And if you’re hooked on the concept and want to start reading some e-lit, you must go read the Electronic Literature Collection and get to know the Electronic Literature Organization.

This 60 minute lecture by I E-Poetry creator Prof. Leonardo Flores offers a definition and overview of electronic literature, adding a third generation to previous historicizing of the field. The introduction by Prof. Scott Rettberg and a great Q&A that ends on discussing 4th and future generations of e-literature extend the video to 90 minutes.
